Our Story

What is GUGO and who is the GUGO Queen?

GUGO or Entada phaseoloides L. is a large woody vine(liana) that climbs high into the lowland coastal forests throughout the Philippines. It grows wild and is extensively used in the country especially by the older generation for washing hair. GUGO has been known to contain medicinal properties used for hair treatments.

In 1989, multi-awarded chemist and inventor, Carlita R. Doran, received several International Bronze, Silver and Gold Medal Awards from the 24th and 25th Salon International Des Inventions and World International Property Organization(WIPO), Geneva, Switzerland for her invention of the first Gugo Herbal Shampoo. More recognitions were given in 1991, 1996 and 1997 for her unique formulations that garnered consistent awards both in the Philippines and abroad for the use of Indigenous Raw Materials.”

In 2014, a new corporation, CARLITA R DORAN HERBAL CORP. was formed to continue her legacy. The five dynamic directors and owners, are eldest son and President Raymond Mark R. Doran, Finance Director and Treasurer J.E. Arturo T. Gloria, Jr., Corporate Secretary and Admin Director Rocamari D. Jurado, Product Development Director Randy R. Doran and Angela Gloria, Director for Business Development. Together, they aim at being the trusted partner and brand for the family’s everyday use.

The company specializes in herbal-based natural products for hair, skin, household and pet care solutions. Today, their growing brands, Forest Magic and Bioneem has been gaining popularity here and abroad. It has a widespread client base and has a network of manufacturing and distribution partners and welcomes new partnerships abroad.

GUGO

GUGO or Entada phaseoloides is a large woody vine (liana) that climbs high into the lowland coastal forest of Africa, Australia, Western pacific and throughout the Philippines. It grows wild in Mt. Banahaw and is extensively used in the country for washing hair and for hair treatments. It creates a lather that effectively cleanses the scalp and hair. GUGO is known to contain properties that help promote hair growth, control dandruff and falling hair due to breakage.
